A: Our #1 donation is our volunteers’ time and that’s free! We also accept cash donations for things like our Pride Parade costs, hosting a fair booth, etc. All these donations come from Reading residents!
The POP Huddle does not spend any money on local elections. Together for Reading is a local PAC that pays for those campaign efforts.
A: Rumors are funny. It’s hard to lurk in the shadows when you have a website, public meetings, social media platforms, and a newsletter.
The founder and chairperson, Laura Wilson is a writer, stay-at-home mom, and 20-year Reading resident. There are 750+ subscribers to the POP Huddle newsletter, with about 90% residing in Reading. Over 20 people help Laura with the logistics of running the group (updating social media and the website, curating actions, preparing for events, etc). Hundreds of others take action in these efforts.
A: We believe that speaking out against “opinions” that express racism, misogyny, homophobia, transphobia, or that support banning books about the Black and LGBT+ community is more important than any harmony we might have.
